Hi. I’m Sandy, and I’m a big ol’ geek.
For as long as I can remember I have loved two things – The first was being in the kitchen. I spent a lot of time watching my Great Grandma make the classics like Oatmeal Raisin Cookies or stuffed peppers. We’d spend hours after school together. She’d bake and I’d watch in awe as so much of what she did was from memory. To this day I still don’t know how she made her pie crust because she used the ‘until it feels right’ method.
The second thing I loved was watching TV. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good book too, but tv has always been a constant companion. I’m a 80’s girl so to my addiction first started with show’s like Who’s the Boss, Growing Pains (I was SOOO going to marry Mike Seaver) and Doogie Howser, MD. As a teenager I moved on to angsty dramas like Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place. Now that I’m an adult I’m a fan of more grown up things. You know, like, Agents of Shield, or Doctor Who. But I also love a good crime dramedy like Castle and Elementary. Oh, or a good comedy like the Big Bang Theory or Black-ish, or Brooklyn nine-nine. And don’t even get me started on my love of super hero movies! Or Star Wars! Or pretty much anything that has action, adventure, or a cheesy Rom-Com presence.
I decided to start this blog as a way of combining those two loves. Food is every where on tv, and in our favorite films. Watching our beloved characters eat is what makes them real and I thought it would be fun to bring the food from on screen to our table. If they’re having bagels, we’re having bagels. If they’re making chicken soup, with little stars, heated to 180 degrees then we’re having chicken soup with little stars heated to, well, you get the idea.
So stay tuned and join me on this Fan-tastic adventure. It’ll be delicious.
